The towering
sand dunes create parabolas of shade and light. Driven forward by the
wind, the barchans move north across the dry lake beds and will, in
time, engulf trees in their path. A combination of moisture from the sea
and detritus blown in by the easterly winds provide sustenance for the
flora and fauna that inhabit this moonscape. Listen to the dunes 'roar'
as grains of sand rub against each other as they cascade down the dune
slip face.
