Program : Nature Site Guide TGD/NSGd/2/0029 ...

The details of the next training program are set out below. The specific arrangements are flexible to some extent and may be changed depending on weather and the needs of the learner group.

1. Venue : The training modules are presented at a training centre at Khwa !ttu, the San heritage site situated 70 kms from Cape Town on the West Coast. The training modules are held on a Saturday and Sunday, over 6 full weekends. This is followed by the assessment which is held over a further weekend at Khwa !ttu. Candidates will be required to stay over when we are at Khwa !ttu, unless alternative arrangements are made with your trainer. We are fortunate to have been given permission to use this facility as it provides us with a species rich environment in terms of plants and animals.

2. Training Style : The training takes the form of module presentations in the morning and thereafter practical field excursions are undertaken in the afternoon. At Khwa !ttu, the evenings are used for practical astronomy exercises, candidate presentations and group care exercises.

3. Accommodation : We make use of bush camp style accommodation and bedding is provided. The venue has ablution facilities with hot water and a communal kitchen for cooking.

4. Candidate Commitment : The success of your training is not only based on the competency of your trainer, but also on your commitment to the process of learning. To this end the candidate is required to:

accurately and comprehensively complete the required documentation material, written submissions and presentation preparation timeously

attend all parts of the training program on time or make alternative arrangements with your trainer

actively participate in group learning assignments and undertake factual research where required, and

adequately prepare for the assessment process.

5. Commencement : The course under consideration is due to be run in the period from October to November 2011. Upon registration for the course you will be asked to identify your availability. Seven full weekends in that period to undertake the training and assessment will be identified that meet the needs of the learner group. Start time is 08:15 , until approximately 16:00 . This is an adult learning course and so the program dates will be set to accommodate the needs of the learner group as far as is practicable.

As a special incentive to valid Wildcard holders, the course fee is R7120. In addition, the course is also open to those people who seek to improve their nature experiences by being able to understand their environment through correct interpretation and knowledge. In this case, it is not necessary to undergo the assessment process. The price of the course without assessment is R6350.

7.
