The details of the next training
program are set out below. The specific arrangements are flexible to
some extent and may be changed depending on weather and the needs of the
learner group.
1. Venue : The training modules are
presented at a training centre
at Khwa !ttu, the San heritage site situated 70 kms from
Cape Town on the West Coast. The training modules are held on a
Saturday and Sunday, over 6 full weekends. This is followed by the assessment
which is held over a further weekend at Khwa !ttu.
Candidates will be required to stay over when we are at Khwa !ttu,
unless alternative arrangements are made with your trainer. We are
fortunate to have been given permission to use this facility as it
provides us with a species rich environment in terms of plants and
animals.
2. Training Style : The
training takes the form of module presentations in the
morning and thereafter practical field excursions are undertaken in
the afternoon. At Khwa !ttu, the evenings are used for practical
astronomy exercises, candidate presentations and group care exercises.
3. Accommodation : We make
use of bush camp style accommodation and bedding is
provided. The venue has ablution facilities with hot water and a communal
kitchen for cooking.
4. Candidate Commitment : The
success of your training is not only based on the competency of your
trainer, but also on your commitment to the process of learning. To this
end the candidate is required to:

and comprehensively complete the required
documentation material, written submissions and presentation preparation
timeously |

attend
all parts of the training program on time or make alternative
arrangements with your trainer

actively
participate in group learning assignments and undertake factual research
where required, and |

adequately
prepare for the assessment process. |
5. Commencement : The course under consideration is due to be run
in the period from October to November 2011. Upon
registration for the course you will be asked to identify your
availability. Seven full weekends in that period to undertake the training
and assessment will be identified that meet the needs of the learner
group. Start time is

This is an adult learning course and
so the program dates will be set to accommodate the needs of the learner
group as far as is practicable.
6. Course Fee : The course is based on acquiring a diploma in
Nature Guiding (TGD/NSGd/2/0029) at a fee of R7350. As
a special incentive to valid Wildcard holders, the course fee is R7120. In
addition, the course is also open to those people who seek
to improve their nature experiences by being able to understand
their environment through correct interpretation and knowledge. In
this case, it is not necessary to undergo the assessment process.
The price of the course without assessment is R6350.

coaching
by qualified and experienced trainers/field guides,
pre-assessment

& revision sessions,

book and handouts, the individual summative assessment and the
moderation thereof as well as the storage of your learner file and THETA
registration.
8. Candidate Numbers : We reserve the right to run the course if
the number of candidates is less than 6. We limit the maximum number of
candidates to 12 to ensure optimum
trainer/candidate interaction.
